The KS-N wheel sensor is used to transmit information about the passage of the railway wheelset at the location of the installed sensor, photo gallery.
The sensor is mounted on the outer part of the track at the foot of the rail between two sleepers. The device consists of a solid steel casing with a movable top cover and springs inside.
The moving part of the sensor, when the rail wheel is driven and the lid moves downwards, induces a signal in the inductive sensor located inside, which transmits the impulse to the control system and the latter evaluates it.
It can be used, for example, to count the axles when moving wagons using a cable shunting device. If two KS-N sensors are fitted in series, the control system is able to evaluate the speed of the passing wagon. It can be supplied for different track types.
