Rope shunting device LTV-NV

Rope device LTV-NV

The LTV-PV rope shunting device is designed to shunt railway wagons on a dead-end track during their loading and unloading at railway sidings, at liquid product filling stations and at terminals. It is capable of starting and braking a train of wagons with a total weight of up to 2500 t, depending on local conditions, photo gallery.

Basic description

The rope shunting device LTV-NV consists of three basic units - driving station, return station and shunting trolley, which is drawn upon the track with the transport rope, more.

On the side of coupling with the set of wagons, the trolley is equipped with standard wagon buffers and the screw coupling or drooping coupler. In case of the marketplaces, where they use automated couplers (SA3), we of course offer such particular coupling version. The inseparable part of supply is electric switchboard with control system and pre-stressing unit for rope.

Control system

Starting and braking of the set are controlled by a frequency converter. The programming machine in the technological switchboard allows logical connections to the existing technological devices of the siding (filling nozzles and arms, rail scales, etc.)

The entire shunting device technology can be designed and implemented in an environment with a risk of explosion.

Shunting process using LTV-NV

  • The shunting locomotive pushes the set of wagons to the shunting device location.
  • The operator uncouples the set of wagons from the locomotive, which can travel away in order to perform another tasks.
  • The operator, with using the local control box or remote control, will pass the shunting trolley towards the first wagon of the set. The trolley coupler is connected to the wagon coupler.
  • The operator uses the LTV-NV trolley to move a single wagon or multiple wagons to the designated location.
  • After servicing the wagons, the operator transports the wagons using the same procedure to the location where the shunting locomotive will take them over.

Device description

Is consists of welded travel frame, which through the use of anchor bolts is anchored to a concrete base where the main drive travels. The drive frame contains driving unit composed of three-phase air-cooled electric motor and planetary gearbox, on the output flange of which the drive rope pulley is mounted.

Placed on a concrete base of driving station are pulleys, guiding driving rope to the return station, shunting trolley and return to the station.

The driving rope’s tightening is effected using of hydraulic unit or electric actuator.

It consists of welded frames with mounted rope pulleys and a rope anchorage (in the case of the "three-rope system", the rope is firmly anchored to the concrete foundation of the return station). The rope pulleys are protected by a cover.

The LTV-NV shunting trolley is driven by the siding track itself, with the parking position of this trolley usually being at the end of the track by the stopper.

The unlubricated steel traction rope is designed according to STN EN 12385-4 with a diameter according to the designed load. In the track yard, the moving branch of the rope is supported by sliding elements that reduce rope wear due to abrasion and keep it clean.

The shunting device is controlled as standard via a local control box, which is located in a clearly visible location next to the track, or from a control panel in the operator's room.

Another option is remote control using a radio set. The operator manipulates the wagons from any location on the track. The service control point is the switchboard itself, which is used only for maintenance and repair purposes.

The connection between the shunting trolley LTV-NV and the wagon, or the set of wagons, will occur after the trolley gets in close proximity of the wagon buffers. The operator engages the coupler hook or the semi-automatic coupler engages itself.

After each manipulation, the operator must unhook the screw coupler hook or release the coupler from the outside with a lever. The use of drooping coupler in the trolley is increasing occupational safety (the operator does not have to enter between the wagons inside the trackage) and enhancing the quickness of handling.
